Which bitrate to choose
The first sound track in the video is converted. Converting to MP3 cannot add quality the video’s own sound did not have, so a higher bitrate than the source mostly makes a bigger file.
| Bitrate | Size per minute | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| 128 kbps | 0.94 MB | Speech, podcasts, voice notes |
| 192 kbps | 1.41 MB | Music and mixed audio, a good default |
| 320 kbps | 2.34 MB | The highest MP3 bitrate, for music you will edit |
Private by design
The converter runs FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly in your browser. Your file is read into memory on your device and the result is saved from there, so nothing is sent to Percify or anyone else. That is also why there is no queue, no account and no watermark.
Files up to 250 MB and 10 minutes work in the browser. For bigger files, the free FFmpeg command on this page does the same job on your computer.
